Built on a 2008 Mercedes-Benz Atego 1017A chassis, this 4×4 expedition truck has been converted into a fully equipped off-grid home. The Motorcraft habitation body was built in 2020, combining a practical living space with the vehicle’s four-wheel drive and expedition capability.

With 182,004 km recorded, the truck has travelled across 83 countries, covering a wide range of terrain and climates. Its history includes remote routes through Africa, high mountain roads in Central Asia, and extensive journeys across South America.

Mechanical Specification & Off-Road Equipment

The Atego is equipped with 4WD and full differential locks, alongside a range of features for tackling challenging terrain. The vehicle is left-hand drive and fitted with Continental 14.5 R20 tyres. The truck carries 380 litres of fresh water and has a 150-litre grey water tank. A Doulton filtration system is also fitted. This water capacity supports extended stays away from conventional facilities during adventures.

Heating and climate control are provided by both Alde water and space heating, and a Dometic air-conditioning system. Together, these features provide the main facilities for managing water and indoor temperatures in different climates.

Proven Expedition History

This Mercedes-Benz Atego 1017A has completed journeys through 83 countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Asia and South America. It has been used as a full-time home while travelling through remote regions, varied climates and challenging road conditions. The current journey is continuing north through the Americas towards Canada.

Its route has included:

• Africa: Extensive travel through West and Central Africa, including an approximately 16,000 km detour through West Africa.
